Matthieu Blazy (born 1984) is a French-Belgian designer. He is the creative director of Chanel.

From 2021 to 2024, he was the creative director of Bottega Veneta.^[1][2]

Early life and education

Blazy grew up in Paris. His father was an art expert and his mother a historian and researcher.^[3] He has an older brother who is an airplane pilot and a twin sister who works in Singapore.^[4]

During high school, Blazy attended Pangbourne College for a year.^[5] He graduated from La Cambre fashion school in Brussels; his graduate collection was about Claudie Haigneré.^[6] He did his internships at Balenciaga and John Galliano.^[7]

Career

Early career

Raf Simons was a member of the jury of Blazy's graduate collection and hired him on the spot.^[3] Blazy brought bolder geometrical patterns to Simons' collections.^[8]
