On December 12, Nicholas Nicholson, Russian History Museum’s Director of Development, presented a captivating account of the life of Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich.

In “Grand Duke Michael: Brother of the Tsar” Nicholson shared new research from his recent book, co-authored with translator Helen Azar, Michael Romanov: Brother of the Last Tsar, Diaries and Letters 1916-1918. The presentation was part of the Russian History Museum’s Second Saturday lecture series.

Using primary historical sources and a faithful translation of Grand Duke Michael’s original observations as a guide, Nicholson explore the tumultuous arc of his final years amidst the fall of the Russian Empire and the Bolshevik Revolution.
