THE FIRST GREAT QUEEN

The first of Cunard’s legendary ‘Queens’, Queen Mary would go on to dutifully serve her part in the Second World War, ferrying a staggering number of troops to war-torn Europe.

Post-war she remained a glamour icon and a firm favourite of the transatlantic route, outlasting many rivals. She had held the Blue Riband for close to 15 years; she had been the home of legendary captains and commodores, the haunt of socialites, celebrities and great minds.

Queen Mary is many things to many people and it is my privilege to depict her in all her glory.
