Woodrow Thomas Wilson was born on December 28, 1856 in Staunton, Virginia.

He was the son of a minister. Wilson moved back and forth between Georgia and South Carolina while he was growing up. As a child, Wilson had a learning disability but he worked very hard as a student.

Thanks to all his hard work, he was accepted to Davidson College in North Carolina and later he went to the college that would become Princeton University.

He graduated from college in 1879. After leaving the college that would become Princeton, Wilson studied law at the University of Virginia.
